The largest surface of every window is made of glass. Thermopane is a construction of two or more glazings. Since the glass makes 80% of the surface of the entire window (for larger window sizes, for example, the standard dimensions of double-winged windows), it has the greatest impact on its insulating properties. It is coated with a butyl tape that makes the first thermal barrier and prevents air and dust penetration inside the glass. This hermetically sealed interspace can be filled with dry air or argon gas. Secondary thermal barrier between the inner and outer sides of the built-in glass is hot melt. So there is no way to “fog” between the two panes of glass.

The glass is GUARDIAN, of renowned American company with the nearest representative office in Hungary. Glazings have all the accompanying certificates and warranties.

Glazings have three very important properties, and these are:

  1. Coefficient of thermal transmittance - denotes the rate of transfer of heat through glass. Glass should have as low coefficient of thermal transmittance as possible, because this reduces the costs proportionally. Unit of measurement: W / m2K;
  2. Solar Factor - is the ratio of energy that is transmitted through the glass and the total energy that reaches the glass. The glass should have as small solar factor as possible, because this proportionally reduces the air conditioning costs. Unit of measurement: %;

The basic division of the glass is into double-glazed and triple-glazed glass (thickness from 24 mm - 44 mm). In combination with argon and low-emissivity (low-E) glass or ClimaGuardSolar, different properties of the glass are achieved.

In addition to that there are several types of glass such as:


(common) transparent glass, flat, without (optical) refractions. The most common thickness is 4 mm.


Ornamental glass are glazings with an uneven surface with a decorative pattern where the transparency of glass depends on the density and structure of the ornament.

The reinforced (wired) glass contains a wire mesh in the middle of the glass. In case of breaking the glass, the wire holds the glass together so it does not scatter. In principle, it is not a safety glass because the pieces of the broken glass have sharp edges. Standard thickness is 6mm.


Stopsol is a float glass with the exception that, during the production process, a metal coating is added (reflective layer), which affects the selective light transmittance (reduces the penetration of the sunrays). Such glass gives the mirror effect. During the day, the outside light is stronger than the internal light, so the mirror effect is on the outside but at night, if the light is on inside the room, the mirror effect is in the interior of the room. The light transmittance of yellow stopsol glass LT is 17%, while the heat transfer coefficient is 1.1 W / m2K.


The light transmittance of green stopsol glass LT is 25%, while the heat transfer coefficient is 1.1 W / m2K.


The light transmittance of blue stopsol glass LT is 34%, while the heat transfer coefficient is 1.1 W / m2K.


Laminated glass is a compound of two or more layers of float glass. The layers are usually glued with PVB foil (polyvinyl butyral). If the glass breaks, it does not scatter into small pieces, but still remains glued to the foil and it is therefore used as a safety glass.


Tempered glass is thermally treated. This increases its strength against impact and bending. In the event of breakage, the glass disintegrates into a number of smaller pieces that have blunt edges which increases the safety of its use.



LOW-E low emissivity glass filled with argon gas

It is a thermal insulating glass that reduces heat loss by 60% compared to conventional double-glazed glass. On the inside of the glass there is a soft coating of a thin layer of metal oxides whose role is to reflect the heat back to the direction of its source. This is particularly noticeable in winter because it keeps the temperature in the room. The layer is facing the inside of the glass so it could not be be damaged. While the effect in the summertime is such that heat does not penetrate into the room.

The amount of energy that is transmitted through the glass is measured by the coefficient “U” in (W / m2K).

With a standard thermal packet 4+16+4 K = 2.7, and with one LOW-E glass K = 1.1 the heat transfer coefficient is 2.7 W/m2K, the solar factor is 20% LT, and the sound insulation is 35 dB.


ClimaGuard Solar is a glass with the heat transfer coefficient of 1.1 W / m2K, light transmittance of 58% LT, and sound insulation of 39 dB.

The main property of this glass is an incredible thermal insulation. It is also called the glass for “4 seasons”.

If we compare it with traditional IZO glass, it will save a half of the heating costs.

Common thermopane glass admits about 80% of solar energy into the interior, which is often unbearable. ClimaGuard Solar is a low-emissivity glass that significantly reduces the transmittance of solar heat because it admits only 42% of the total solar energy. It is located on the inner surface of the glass, or on the first glass on the outside. Low heat transmittance causes low temperature inside the glass, which consequently ensures comfort in the room, allows incredible savings when using air conditioners.


ClimaGuard Premium is a glass with the heat transfer coefficient of 1.1 W / m2K, light transmittance of 61% LT, and sound insulation of 45 dB.

There is also a variant of ClimaGuard Premium glass that represents a revolution in this field.

In addition to all characteristics in terms of thermal insulation, it has an unusually high solar factor of 63%. It therefore ensures excellent use of daylight.

It is a low-emissivity glass that is located on the inner surface of the glass, that is, the first glass on the inner side.


The combination of these 3 glasses is for the real experts and energy efficiency lovers.

This combination of glass reduces noise up to 45dB. The solar coefficient is 61% which means that only 39% of the solar heat enters the interior of the room. The permeability of daylight is 60%. The heat transfer coefficient is 0.6-0.9 W / m2K, therefore the heating bills are lower up to five times.


The glass can be decorated with golden strips, white narrow and wide strips. The decoration is placed inside the glass surface so it will not get dirty due to external influences. In this way you can give your facade a personal touch.
